Raining instead of snowing

Posted by goldenborn on December 24, 2008

Raining heavily outside. Visibility distance is about 200 meters.  Now increases to 300 meters in few seconds.

Life is just too short after all. We always wonder what to do in the next hour, or at least in that particular day. I admit, I sometimes ignored the fact that life is too short.  “OK. It is short.” Done. Ting ting. My idea bulb  is glowing. Making its signature sound of brightness.

“…I chose to run for the presidency at this moment in history because I believe deeply that we cannot solve the challenges of our time unless WE SOLVE THEM TOGETHER- unless we perfect our union by understanding that we may have different stories, but we hold common hopes; that we may not look the same and we may not have come from the same place, but we all want to move in the same direction – towards a better future for of children and our grandchildren…,” – BARACK OBAMA at Constitution Center, Philadelphia, PA

This is a part of Barack Obama’s speech at Constitution Center in Pennsylvania during his campaign. I definitely agree. We all want to move in the same direction, yet thinking it might be best to use our own way in order to get there.

Let’s look at the content instead of the person who read nor wrote the speech.

1. WE ALL HAVE HOPES – Let’s scale it down. I have my own. My family, friends, teachers, all do have their own hopes. Common hopes. To provide the best family setting, to be the good friend (if not the best)  and to share the knowledge gained so far. Personally, it was rather easy to just have hopes and wishes. Most of the time I wished that I have the natural sports-wired brain (maybe I do). Easy to understand and do well in any sports I play. Yet, God showed me that working hard taught me to be a better person each day. Alhamdulillah. Nothing is wrong with hoping. What matters is – will it remains as it is, hope, or will it be a reality?

2. WE MAY NOT LOOK THE SAME AND COME FROM THE SAME PLACE – A man may have about 25 000 genes in his DNA , 1500 more than a chimp. That 1500 genes are genes that made us human. Lack of that 1500 genes – made a chimp, a chimp. Each of God creations, has its own uniqueness. A cheetah has its own physiology that enables it to be the fastest animal on the land. While human, is gifted by God a mind. To think.  It’s our nature of being able to differentiate good and bad, bright and dark, black and white.

 3.  WE MAY HAVE DIFFERENT STORIES – Definitely.  Every decision we made, created another story. Story of our own. I admit, I have my own walk of shame and till now, I am still struggling to be better person, just like all of you. Stories of life that are written on the parchment of present can’t neither be erased nor Ctrl+Z.  You may wish it can, but accept the fact it’s not the way nature works.

AND WE ALL WANT TO MOVE IN THE SAME DIRECTION, TOWARDS A BETTER FUTURE OF CHILDREN AND OUR GRANDCHILDREN…….

Fine. Some people questioned why do we bother about the next generation but not this generation. Honey, we wont’t be thinking about the next generation if we are not worried of what’s going on now!
