Agent 350?

Posted by goldenborn on July 12, 2008

Let’s be one.

350 is the most important number in the world.

Behind 350

Behind 350

This number is the safe line for our global climate and a start line for global movement.

Recent science tells us that unless we can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, we will cause huge and irreversible damage to the earth.

We can see some of the impacts now.

Solutions do exist to get humanity out of the danger zone and below 350. Movements are massive and diverse. However, how do we contribute to make Earth a better place each day?

Let’s grow a plant in the house. Get the oxygen! Switch off electrical appliances if not in use. This will reduce the electrical energy thus reduce the heat generated at the power plant.

Let’s reduce the use of cars. Reduce the use car will not only decrease the amount of carbon monoxide produced which causes people to cough and have flu but save your money! We know the hike in fuel prices! If you are driving to the same place as your friends, get them to go with you. Furthermore, it’s safe to drive and have friends together with you.

I know it’s summer and yeah it’s hot. Do want this fever to continue? I don’t.

We are everywhere, and together we are unstoppable.

:::”If we all switch to CFLs and LEDs, we’ll have the same effect as taking millions of cars off the road”:::

10 simple ways to unscrew the world!CFL uses 80% less energy than regular light bulb BUT it can't be thrown away because it has mercury.

for more info, unsrewamerica.org
  1. Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth.
  2. Use lipstick and lipbalm without petroleum in it.
  3. Avoid using all those plastic bottles for drinking water. Get a reusable thermos or jug, like Nalgene or Sigg.
  4. Baking soda can do the work of many chemical products. Try it for carpet stains and dissolving dirt and grease.
  5. Keep your car tires properly inflated. You’ll get better gas mileage.
  6. Unplug cellphone charger while not in use. Other appliances too!
  7. After you’ve replaced the incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) and light emission diodes (LED), get your friends to as well.
  8. Use less hot water. Shower like you mean it!
  9. Do you really need to print out all those?
  10. Try to rent a hybrid when on vacation or business travel.
CFLs uses 80% less energy than regular bulbs, but it cant be thrown away because it has mercury, just like the long fluorescent light.
